The weather may be getting colder, but we have some great ideas for you and your family to do while staying warm. Here are five things to do this winter:

1. Go Sledding. 2. Visit Campus Martius. After you’re done skating, check out the Winter Market in Cadillac Square. The market showcases goods from local small businesses and there’s surely something for everyone to enjoy.

3. Check out a Museum in Downtown Detroit. 4. Stay Indoors. 5. Visit the Detroit Zoo or the Belle Isle Aquarium. Through our Outreach & Impact Initiative, over the past year, we’ve donated more than $100,000 from Christian Financial and employee contributions.

[8
14,18

There are many free sledding hills for you and your family to enjoy in the Metro Detroit area. Sledding is a great family-friendly activity for the winter. Plus, sharing a nice hot cup of hot chocolate is a great way to end the day.

Located in the center of Detroit, Campus Martius offers activities for the whole family. It’s outdoor ice-skating rink is open until March 4, with skating open seven days a week. Admission is $8 for adults and $7 for seniors and children, 12 and under. Don’t have your own skates? No problem! Campus Martius offers skate rentals.

If you live in the tri-counties (Wayne, Macomb, or Oakland), you can visit the Detroit institute of Arts for free. There are many other incredible museums in Detroit to visit such as the Detroit Historical Museum, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Michigan Science Center, and The Henry Ford.

If it is too cold outside, you can always find something to do indoors! Try baking cookies with your family or share some warm hot chocolate. When you are done, snuggle up to watch a movie or have a family game night.

The Detroit area has many great attractions, but the Detroit Zoo is a great place to visit when you’re looking for something to do. Winter is a great time to visit the Detroit Zoo and an opportunity to see animals who are more active during the colder season. You can also visit the Belle Isle Aquarium. See tons of different aquatic creatures within the aquarium walls including those from the Great Lakes and other waters of the world. Visiting the aquarium is free however, all vehicles entering Belle Isle State Park are required to have a Recreation Passport.
